Command line access to refresh rate?

Hi all. I have a problem with beryl where one of my two screen goes
all wavy and wobbly (to use a technical term - and I don't mean any
beryl effects :) )

The problem seems only "cosmetic" inasmuch as I can still run
commands and such.

Interestingly, if I run nvidia-settings and reset the refresh rate the
problem goes away (until the next time it happens).

I wonder if there is a command line switch to set the refresh rate.
Under nvidia-settings you can change the refresh rate, but in the
command line refreshrate is a read-only attribute and cannot be set
with --assign function.

Does anybody know of a command line switch to set the refresh rate?

TIA

Re: Command line access to refresh rate?

xrandr can do that (check man xrandr for the correct switches, I'm not on my hone pc atm).

I can't find any switches in xrandr that set refresh rate. Anybody know
how to do it (by command line)?

Re: Command line access to refresh rate?

turns out there is an "undocumented" (not in the man page) switch
for setting refresh rate: xrandr -r n (where n is refresh rate, e.g. 60).

Don't know if it helps my problem since I haven't had beryl crash
since I found out :) ... it will happen
