What makes ATI mainboard chipsets run cooler?

Why do ATI motherboard chipsets run so much cooler than everything else?

What could nvidia do to make the successor to the 680i run cool as **** like ati chipsets?

They use more advanced process, for eng while others may use 90nm ATi are one step ahead with 80nm. This helps making the chips smaller and run cooler as they need less voltage.
