Volume control shortcut keys?
Is there any way to control the global windows volume in vista using shortcut keys? I used a program called "VolumeTray" to do it in XP but it doesn't work in Vista. I tried 2 other programs and neither of those work either.
Is there really no way to do this right in windows? It seems like something they would have added by now, especially considering the total revamp of the sound portion of the OS. |
Re: Volume control shortcut keys?
have you tried the little speaker icon by the time clock?

Re: Volume control shortcut keys?
I don't know how to assign a shortcut key to the global volume controls. It may not be possible in Vista because Vista allows you to control volume per application. If you right click on the speaker icon and select Open volume mixer Vista will present a dialog of all running applications that use sound and you can set the volume for each individual app.

I want to be able to adjust the volume on my PC when I'm playing games or watching movies or something. We just had a massive power surge and I lost my Z5500s, so I'm stuck with a straight headphone connection until we can get our insurance (or possibly the electric company) to give us money to replace the things we lost (probably like $1500 in electronics :(). A lot of games don't support minimizing, and its just a lot of hassle compared to hitting some keys to lower the volume. SetPoint software can do it with my mouse, but my Logitech Ultra-X keyboard isn't supported for some reason. |

As for me, the built-in audio mixer of Windows is awkward. That's why I bought a good volume control program called Power Mixer.

Re: Volume control shortcut keys?
There is a way to control sound, mute, and volume controls with a hotkey on windows 7 and windows vista.
Windows button + X opens Windows Mobility Center press TAB once then pressing ENTER controls mute. or press TAB twice and use the right and left arrow keys to change volume. |
