Problems with NVIDIA 100.14.09 on OpenSuSE x86-64
1 Attachment(s)
Previously using 1.0-9755. No problems.
I've tried installing the new drivers from the RUN installer and directly from the OpenSuSE 10.2 YAST installation repository. Same problems. Problems: 1) Once runlevel 5 reached (xdm + networking), cannot access ttys ( CTRL + ALT 1-6 ). Have to set vga=normal in grubs menu.lst to be able to use them. There must be another way. 2) GLXgears scored 27k using 9755 and now only 19k using 100.14 (even with __GL_FSAA_MODE and __GL_LOG_MAX_ANISO unset). Does'nt make sense. 3) Cedega 6.0 running Oblivion ran perfectly on 9755. Now Oblivion runs upside down. How about that. Please help me if you can. Thanks in advance. |

Some more information....
Quake 4, Doom 3, NwN and UT2K4 run as usual. Oblivion in Cedega now just a black screen with sound but still responds to CTRL + ALT + Backslash. |

Same Cedega problem. AA is broken in 100.14.09 --- Can somebody confirm this? |

9755 - AA on (In say HL2) I get tearing when I enable it. (Can't see anything properly) 100.14.09 - With AA on, it inverts the game.. Turn it off, it's normal again. So for now I leave AA off, so I can play the game... (Using the 10.14.09 drivers) In Doom3 (Native) I actually get a FPS boost of 10-15fps.. With the 100.14.09 drivers, with doom3's default timedemo. Thanks for the input, Wolf.
I'm running Quake 4, Doom 3, NwN and UT2K4 natively. All these, including glxgears are slower using 100.14.09. I do notice better textures, though. :) |

Re: Problems with NVIDIA 100.14.09 on OpenSuSE x86-64
Update....tried the 100.14.11 drivers.
1) TTYs (or VTs) switches to and from X working...:) 2) Cedega 6.0 running Oblivion running OK.....BUT....noticeable graphics glitches...:| 3) glxgears still running slow.....18K...:( Good work, NVIDIA. The drivers are becoming noticeably better...:jumping: |
Re: Problems with NVIDIA 100.14.09 on OpenSuSE x86-64
I happened to read about ViewPerf in this thread (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=93685)...
...so I tried running them with the 1.0-9762 and the 100.14.11 drivers. Here are my results: 1.0-9762 ======== Run All Summary 3dsmax-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 8.891 catia-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 11.11 ensight-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 15.89 light-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 8.168 maya-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 23.92 proe-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 8.718 sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 14.31 tcvis-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 4.956 100.14.11 ========= Run All Summary 3dsmax-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 13.14 catia-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 12.84 ensight-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 17.13 light-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 10.62 maya-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 24.03 proe-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 9.307 sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 15.01 tcvis-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 5.156 The later driver has larger scores throughout. Does this mean that they are faster or slower? Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

Higher scores are better.

Thanks, netllama.
Any idea why my glxgears scores are slower? (Crappy benchmark...I know) I've noticed my games have better texture quality. (Maybe a trade-off?) Thanks, again. |
