Blu-Ray wins format war for the 3rd time in less than 6 months!

I think Blu-Ray needs to step up their game and start winning the format war at least once a month. Bimonthly would be preferable, actually. If Blu-Ray can win the format war at least 13.5 times before 2008, then we can all rest assured that Star Wars will be Blu-Ray exclusive in 2014. :owned: http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/01/08...y-over-hd-dvd/ http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/02/12...s-over-really/ :spam2: :p |

The Blockbuster thing is nice but the Starz going BR exclusive and bringing Anchor Bay with it is even bigger to me as it should be to anyone that loves horror movies.

Yep...It's starting to look like they WILL (not have) win the war. Alot of stuff has been going BR's way lately. I don't really care either way...I have a PS3 and HD-DVD Players are so cheap now I can just get one...

Yeah, here in AU Blu-Ray has in won. 10 to 1 in all HD movie purchases. Kinda sad, but I don't mind. It appears to have become a decent format. Might grab a PS3 for now. It'll be fine in my fairly humble setup. :D

BD won. My HD DVD players just exploded and all my discs shattered.

However, on the 7:30 Report a few weeks ago there was a segment talking about the war, which I thought was good. At least there is some recognition. http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2007/s1913925.htm The www.hd-world.net site, the biggest fan base here for both formats, has stopped posting news on the front page due to the lack of support here, which is quite saddening. I presume it will still be months if not a year or two until either format even makes it into multiple DVD rental stores. The number of purchases here has been so low to begin with that 10-1 advantage for Blu-ray doesnt really mean much. Best way to describe it is both formats are 'losing' here :thumbdwn: Also the number of movies here is relatively low compared to the US, most aren't even scheduled to be released here. |

How decent of a blu-ray player is the PS3? Any significant video playback issues? Chroma upsample problems? Does it support truehd transport?
Not that I am going to buy one (not terribly interested in hd discs atm, nor the PS3 games in general) but I am just curious as to how it fares against other blu-ray players, given that it is supposed to be cheaper than the rest. |

60% of my HDDVDS I own are all Universal Pictures
Once Universal makes the switch, which at this point seems inevitable, then BluRay will become the definite winner |

Though, I suppose the recent price cuts bringing Sony's BD players down to a cheap and affordable $800 shouldn't be overlooked either. Man...how is Toshiba ever going to keep up with THAT? |
