roadmap for new driver versions?

Hi there,

sorry if I did miss that information, but I searched here and on the nvidia page and did not find any sort of roadmap for new driver versions.
Basically what I'd like to know is when (a rough guess) there will be support for GeForce 8600GT GPUs. I bought it "accidentally" and would like to get an idea if it's worth waiting or it makes more sense to sell it and buy one with a GeForce 7900GS.

Best regards, Anton

Hi Mr. A,

I must be stupid and blind then.

Can you give me a hint where this page says anything about support for 8600 types???
Also I checked http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_18897.html and the support seems only be "up to" 7900 types.

I have tried the latest driver on my Ubuntu box with no success, but if you got it working I'll try again this evening with all the info supplied here.

Cheers, Tony

hi.

it seems that this page is not up to date.

This link shows you a list of GPU'S that are supported.
http://de.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-a.html
If you choose the driver from www.nvidia.com and select Geforce 8 series and linux x86, you will be linked to this driver (see screenshot).
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d...100.14.11.html
So it must be supported.

For driver installation, take a look at this threads:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490

regards
Mr. A
