HELP - First time overclocking
 

I have a compaq presario sr2020nx with an asus Asus A8M2N-LA (NodusM) with an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ , 512MB DDR2 (4200) ram just 256x2 chips. I want to know what I have to do just to overclock it a little bit so its stable and "okay" on just plain stock cooling. Just to maybe bump it from 3500+ to maybe 3600 or 3800 or possibly more and if i can overclock the ram... I really need help and want to know what to do and what procedures i need to take.. anyway i have some software like systool and nvidia ntune. Any help would be appreciated in an easy step-by-step format!! I have no idea what to do, its my first time, i just wanna get a good performance increase without any issues as I don't wanna F-Up my system.

*Edit* - I used Nvidia's NTUNE and managed to safely get the clock speed from 2200Mhz to 2610Mhz.. it seems to crash if i reach 2630+mhz...
