100.14.11 and geforce 7025

bought new abit an-m2 motherboard which incorperates gf 7025

this board has two sockets on the back and these are clearly different ports rather than ports shadowing each other.

however the drivers 100.14.11 will not allow twin view to work.

it puts it into a shadow mode but with panning across the virtual res.

both monitors effectivly a clone.

I have run same driver rev on my 7300gs and it works exactly as i expect.

going to install this tonight, in this board which pretty much negates the reason i bought this board in the first place as its onboard graphics at this point are useless to me.

anyone also seen this isse or know if its a known issue, i scoured google, but cant seem to locate anything that details the same problem.

ps im running fedora 7 64 bit

regards peter

im sorry, nothing obvious in there that points to the description of my problem.

would be helpful, if you would indicate which one, unless you are infering that i submit a
bug report, but before i do that i would like to know if it is a bug or firmware update or config option ive missed etc.
thanks for taking the time to reply

You need to attach an nvidia-bug-report.log.

ive reinstalled this time with 32 bit fedora, (which is what i wanted in the first place, downloaded and installed the 32 bit version of said driver and still exactly the same.

all i need to know is it a know problem.

did you test twinview under linux with that chipset on that driver version and find it worked.

im about to update my fedora 7 to latest update and try again.

then i may submit a bug report.

would be greatfull if you can confirm if it was tested though, makes me look else were if i know you had it working at least once.

regards peter

Twinview is supported on any graphics card that has two outputs.

If its not working, then it is a problem, and you need to attach an nvidia-bug-report.log if you'd like further assistance.

Re: 100.14.11 and geforce 7025

X (and the nvidia driver) are doing exactly as you've configured:
(**) NVIDIA(0): Option "MetaModes" "CRT: 1280x1024_75 +0+0, DFP: 1280x1024_75 +1280+0"

If you don't want any overlap between the display devices, then you should remove all the offsets from your Metamodes.

Also, please note that there are an infinite number of X configurations crossed with hardware combinations. They cannot all be tested.

no i have not ive used the simple to use twinview setup in the nvidia settings.

you forget i used this on the 7300GS and it works fine.

what i want is twinview not what nvidia settings is generating.

what should i put in the config file if i want two screens being one desktop ie twinview

Re: 100.14.11 and geforce 7025

You already have Twinview. As I noted earlier, there are an infinite number of X configurations. You're just not getting the configuration that you want.

Move /etc/X11/xorg.conf to a safe backup location, and then run the following as root:
nvidia-xconfig --twinview

If you need further assistance after running the above command, please describe the problem, and attach a new bug report.

Re: 100.14.11 and geforce 7025

yes done that it makes no difference, the driver is ignoring the xorg.conf file and doing what it wants

Re: 100.14.11 and geforce 7025

basicly im getting a 2000 odd pixel width screen that i see the left half of on both screens

when it starts up the nvidia logo is cut in two on both screens on the right hand side and thats with an untouched file generated from your --twinview command
