Best projector for 110'' screen?

I've been trying to look for a great 1080P projector for our 110'' screen downstairs. Do you guys know a great 1080P projector that can handle that big?
I've only seen one 1080p projector I like, which is an Epson but it only supports 100'' inches.

Please help me out here, thanks in advance

this site should be able to provide some of the best info.
They specialize in projectors.

or http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/index.php

Thats a pretty big screen size, the lumen output will be a big factor.

Kinda jealous, my wife nixed the projector setup.

My vote would be the Panasonic AE-1000U. http://www.projectorpeople.com/proje...c+PT%2DAE1000U

if you don't the cash for a panasonic ae 1000 the panasonic ax100 kicks ass as well. It's brighter up to 2,000 lumens. Only catch is that the ax100 is 720p. I have a 110" fixed frame screen as well and the ax100 and I think it looks really sweet. It is the brightest projector I've ever owned. I play xbox, ps3, and pc on it and blue ray and hddvd movies look great!
I'd wait on 1080p projectors till they hit 2000 lumens or more. Right now they are too dim for me. I've had 1,000 lumen projectors and didn't like them.
good luck!

Do you play with the lights on or the shades open? I've seen the AE-900U and you have to have a controlled light environment for it to work properly. If you have the lights off though it is amazing and is quite bright. I'm guessing with the huge price breaks on the 1000U they might be in the works of making a newer model with higher lumen output.

EDIT: LOL, ask and you shall recieve. :) Just looked at Anandtech and Panny is coming out with a 2000U with higher lumen output and a few new features. http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/...spx?i=3088&p=6 You can also look at that article to see a few other projectors that are coming out.

Wow... I had no idea projectors were that expensive.

For those prices they better go a lot higher than 720 or 1080p... those are both pretty damned low resolutions when you're talking about screens over 50 inches, let alone over 100. The pixels would be enormous. :o

Still... I won't knock it till I've seen one in action (which I haven't).

You have to remember that you don't sit on top of the screen either. You probably sit less than 2 feet away from a computer screen whereas you'd be at least 10 feet away from a projector screen. On lower quality LCD models there is something called the Screen Door Effect that happens because of the distance between pixels. You can actually pick out all of the individual pixels if you look at it closely. When you are farther away you won't see them, but when you are right in front of the screen you can see them. The panny I linked uses a screen smoothing to blend all of the pixels together so you don't get the SDE.

Screen size should always been chosen based on view distance. 12-14' @ 100" would be great.

Yeah, this is why I've always said that bigger isn't necessarily better.

If you only need seating for 3 or 4 people (a love seat and two chairs for example), you'd probably only need 4-6 feet between the viewers and the screen for them to all be comfortable. A 42-50" TV would probably be "optimal" when it comes to quality vs size.

Unless you are dealing with a very large room that needs to accommodate a lot of people, it seems like going larger than that is mostly just going to blow up the pixels and give you neck strain, or cause you to sit much farther away (which would make your screen look smaller anyway).

I watch DVDs on a 22" CRT from 1-2 feet away and they look phenomenal, while also filling my view pretty well.

I wish I knew a wealthy electronics buff though... I'd like to see what a real high quality entertainment setup looks like. Anything I've put together or seen at Wal-Mart has left me very unimpressed.

I love this big giant screen. Sitting 12 feet away it looks magnificent. On a monitor..hell no. I see no pixels 12 feet away plus the panasonic has smoothscreen technology to keep you from seeing the pixels.
Projectors are very expensive though, and I do have a dedicated light controlled room for it.
I am satisfied and only will go back to a standard lcd screen if I'm on my laptop.
