Xorgs nv driver on AMD64
2 Attachment(s)
I've managed to get a Viewsonic PT795 and Samsung SyncMaster 20GLsi to work with a Quadro FX 560 on i386 using the drivers that NVidia provides - see the attached file xorg386.txt
I'm trying to get both monitors to work on amd64 using the Xorg driver and not having much luck. Anyone have some pointers - see attached file xorgamd64.txt |
Re: Xorgs nv driver on AMD64
Last I heard, the open source 'nv' driver does not support dual monitors on a single video card.

Re: Xorgs nv driver on AMD64
This was from an email I got - and of the various places to go and ask about configuring Xorg with nv, this seemed to be one of the places where I might find success.
I am lead to believe that what I seek is able to be done, I am just not sure how. Recent versions of the nv driver support dual head mode with RandR 1.2 for chips based on G80 and higher. For earlier chips (such as the Quadro FX 560), it supports a simple dual head mode with several restrictions: - The resolutions available are somewhat limited. - Both heads run at the same resolution. - The screens are always side-by-side. More advanced dual head support for pre-G80 chips is outside the scope of the nv driver. |

Re: Xorgs nv driver on AMD64
As of the may 12th build of the xorg NV drivers on freebsd 7.0 STABLE AMD64 (running on intel duo 8 gig ram) , dualhead mode at 3840x1200 does not work.
I get dualhead at a lesser resolution or 1920x1200 on one Samsung BW 245 Suggestions as to how to make this work on FreeBSD? |
Re: Xorgs nv driver on AMD64
The open source nv driver isn't made by NVidia. Try the Xorg people.
