Being a newbie to the Solaris scene, I want to install Solaris 10 on the following hardware (nothing new or fancy - it was a DELL system):
Intel P4 3.0GHz HT, 800Mhz FSB
4 GB RAM
Quadro NVS video device
Now, I start the Solaris 10 Disc 1 installation via the boot menu and when the installation gets to the "window configuration" stage (step 3) the video device is detected as "unknown". Is this right?
Anyway, if I continue the installation, it is via a simple text based interface (and not a nice GUI dialog mode like I have experienced in the past). After the installation process is complete the X11 window system fails to start and only the command line is available! I DL'd and installed the http://www.nvidia.com/object/solaris..._1.0-8776.html
driver and followed the instructions to no avail.
How can I get Solaris 10 into a GUI mode (eg X11) using the Quadro NVS?
Help or suggestions? What further infomation do you require?
