That's what I'm doing in the meantime, sorry if I didn't make that clear in the first post. It has been running the nv driver for the last week or so, but I moved it to a new monitor that ran on DVI which is when the resolution issues popped up, so I decided to give the nvidia driver another try after I had updated everything (though not enough, apparently ). It locked up again this afternoon so I reverted back to the nv driver and started searching for the cause of the problem.
