Do you run WoW in openGL mode under wine? (wine WoW.exe -opengl)

DirectX is for winblows and developed by M$ and should therefore be avoided at all costs.

I don't know what kind of FPS I would get in winblows and I am more than reluctant to install that bug-ridden virus magnet again, but I don't have any performance issues with WoW with wine (40-50 fps in IF and SW and usually around 60-80 outdoors with a C2D E6600 and 7950GT).

With your hardware you should get at least half of that and probably closer 75% of that.
