Default Slackware 9.0 and GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP8x

Hello folks,
I've installed Slackware 9.0 Linux on my machine and I've downloaded the Linux driver version 1.0-4363. Everything was running well during installation and compilation (I was very impressed by this user-friendliness).
But when I started X (Before I've customized the XF86Config file and change the entry "nv" to "nvidia" in the device section) I was kicked back to the console with a weird message "Chipset "GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP8X" in Device section "Card0" isn't valid for this driver". This sounds for me that the hardware I applied to a driver doesn't fit. The normal procedure is vice versa.
Below you can find my system details and the message files. Any help is appreciated.

PC with Slackware 9.0 running Linux 2.4.20
AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 512MB DDR, SIS735
MSI GF4 Ti4200-VTD8X, 128 MB, (NV28)
