Default Re: can't load the module

I saw that, but I think it's a weird mistake where the lines of the log output were truncated.
The log knowingly says:
NVRM: rivatv was loaded and obtained ownership of the NVIDIA
NVRM: device(s).
Ah, great, that's the problem (even though it's impossible as far as I can tell), this text sounds like it knows what it's talking about. But later on it says:
NVRM: The NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device(s).
NVRM: This can occur when a driver such as rivafb, nvidiafb or
NVRM: rivatv was loaded and obtained ownership of the NVIDIA
NVRM: device(s).

The last two lines of this taken out of context seem to suggest an answer, but in context, they seem to represent confusion.

I am pretty sure that
Device Drivers->Graphics Support->nVidia Riva support is 100% not compiled in as a module or otherwise. I am fairly certain that anything that includes the letters nv in the kernel options is not compiled in.

Thanks for your help. I've used nVidia cards for 5 years now with Linux and have never had any problems until this one. Any suggestions welcome.
