I will try to help all of you...

In place of MythTV, I prefer Oxine that is very very good and keep the thing simple.
Here is my xorg.conf to 720p but with all the other options commented out. I have one file per resolution and use xgame to launch the one I whant in another X session.
Right now I'm using the nvidia-9631 driver and kernel.
