Default Re: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'

Solution that worked for me:

rpm -qa 'kernel*' --queryformat "%{NA****-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\n" | sort

showed one thing was 586.

went back to install dvd
cd /dvd/Fedora/RPMS
ls -al ke*686*

looked, picked the kernel and kernel-dev

rpm -ivh listed-the-rpms --replacepkgs --replacefiles

This whined over and over again about how it couldn't overwrite some files from blah.temp to blah. So I did this over and over until I made it through all 15 or so.

Then it whined about the floppy drive of all things.
I found a floppy, and it still whined, but finished.

running the nvidia installer worked fine, and so did startx.
