Default Re: Way to list a Geforce card's supported resolutions?

Thunderbird, I think you were spot on. From my Geforce 4 MX bug report:

Quote:
(--) NVIDIA(1): Connected display device(s) on GeForce4 MX 4000 at PCI:1:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(1): DELL M781s (CRT-0)
(--) NVIDIA(1): WDE WestinghouseLVM-37w3 (DFP-0)
(--) NVIDIA(1): DELL M781s (CRT-0): 350.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(1): WDE WestinghouseLVM-37w3 (DFP-0): 135.0 MHz maximum pixel
(--) NVIDIA(1): clock
(--) NVIDIA(1): WDE WestinghouseLVM-37w3 (DFP-0): Internal Single Link TMDS
(II) NVIDIA(1): Assigned Display Device: DFP-0
(WW) NVIDIA(1): No valid modes for "1920x1080_60"; removing.
(WW) NVIDIA(1):
(WW) NVIDIA(1): Unable to validate any modes; falling back to the default mode
(WW) NVIDIA(1): "nvidia-auto-select".
(WW) NVIDIA(1):
(II) NVIDIA(1): Validated modes:
(II) NVIDIA(1): "nvidia-auto-select"
(II) NVIDIA(1): Virtual screen size determined to be 1280 x 720
So, my Geforce 4 MX would only do 720p over DVI. Compare this to my friend's Geforce 4 Ti4600, which did 1080p just fine:

Quote:
(--) NVIDIA(1): Connected display device(s) on GeForce4 Ti 4600 at PCI:1:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(1): DELL M781s (CRT-1)
(--) NVIDIA(1): WDE WestinghouseLVM-37w3 (DFP-0)
(--) NVIDIA(1): DELL M781s (CRT-1): 350.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(1): WDE WestinghouseLVM-37w3 (DFP-0): 165.0 MHz maximum pixel
(--) NVIDIA(1): clock
(--) NVIDIA(1): WDE WestinghouseLVM-37w3 (DFP-0): External Single Link TMDS
(II) NVIDIA(1): Assigned Display Device: DFP-0
(II) NVIDIA(1): Validated modes:
(II) NVIDIA(1): "1920x1080_60"
(II) NVIDIA(1): Virtual screen size determined to be 1920 x 1080
Unfortunately, the driver did not specify anything about the pixel clock being under the required amount, only that the mode was not valid. If you hadn't have informed me of what the problem was I would probably still be trying to get it to work!
