Re: nvidia 100.14.0X, Logout or Shutdown make Xorg freeze.
Same problem for me (Xorg freezes at logout). I'm using Fedora Core 7 with a NVIDIA GeForce 6200 card (with 100.14.09 or 100.14.11 driver versions and Desktop Effects turned on).
I was able to install the "1.0-9762" old driver with some hints from this forum and from google :
Run the Nvidia installer with these parameters :
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9762-pkg1.run --x-module-path=`X -showDefaultModulePath 2>&1 | cut -d, -f1` --x-library-path=`X -showDefaultLibPath 2>&1`
In fedora core 7 the result of this command is:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9762-pkg1.run --x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules --x-library-path=/usr/lib
I also needed to add the line below in the section "Screen" of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Without the line I lost the window decoration if I turn on the desktop effects (compiz) feature.
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
My system isn't crashing with this driver version. I will wait for a new driver update from NVidia to see if the freezing problem was solved.
