I am using fedora 7, and the 100.14.11 driver (from atrpms package) on my 5200 with my TV connected on the DVI port.
With newer drivers, I have been unable to find a modeline that will work with 1080i on my TV.
I have a Mitsubishi 55513, and this was working fine under FC5 and 8178 driver (and many many previous versions). This is the modeline I used there with no problems: ModeLine "1920x1080i" 74.5 1920 2008 2052 2200 1080 1084 1096 1124 +hsync +vsync interlace
I am upgrading because the packages I need for FC5 are no longer available. I have tried to get 1080i working on multiple drivers newer than 8178, but have had no success. I am focusing on getting 100.14.11 working since it is the newest.
I loaded XP and PowerStrip to confirm my modelines, and I tested these 2 with no problems other than normal interlacing jitter:
#### Power Strip 1
# ModeLine "ps1920x1080" 82.816 1920 2104 2288 2456 1080 1107 1108 1124 interlace +hsync +vsync
#### Power Strip 2
ModeLine "ps1920x1080" 74.250 1920 2008 2052 2200 1080 1084 1094 1125 interlace +hsync +vsync
I have tested both in X, but am focusing on the last one since it is closest to what I know worked on 8178 and previous.
My first problem was EDID overriding my modes with a bunch of crap, so I have added the following to xorg.conf to work around this.
Option "MetaModes" "ps1920x1080"
Option "NvAGP" "1"
Option "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "TRUE"
Option "TVStandard" "HD1080i"
Option "UseEDID" "FALSE"
Option "ModeValidation" "AllowNon60HzDFPModes, NoDFPNativeResolutionCheck, NoMaxSizeCheck, NoMaxPClkCheck"
This at least allows a mode that is "valid" as far as the driver is concerned, but the most I get out of my TV is a severely disfigured nvidia logo before sync is lost.
I have taken a nvidia-bug-report while using this last modeline, and this bug report is attached.
Please help me out with this. I've been troubleshooting off and on for a while now, and the wife is ready to have the mythtv back.
