Default Re: Blank virtual terminals

I know it's bad form to post to an old thread, and I am sorry for that, but I can't seem to find any fix for this issue.

I'm running on a laptop with a PCIe 6600Go chip.

When I switch to a VT or even exit X, the text terminal is black and I can not get it back. The display works fine if I reenter X again, and the system isn't locked.

I have an AGP-based desktop running a 6200 that does not have this problem, and I have seen some live CD distros that do not exhibit this issue either. This makes me think that it's a setting somewhere on my system, but I can't figure it out.

I have tried adding the vga=normal line to the grub kernel boot line and told the driver to ignore the TV out, still no joy.

So, have there been any news on getting this fixed?
