Ok guys!! I'm learning this linux stuff pretty well. So far so good. Played with KDE the other day. Then installed the GNOME desktop. Liking GNOME better so far.

Couple of questions though. I'm setting this box up to run as a file server (here at home) and as an ftp server. First off, what file system should I use on the drive i'm storing all my data on? Just ext3? Or is there a better one to use? Apparently different file systems are better for different things...or so I've read...

secondly...the transfer speed between the linux box and my vista desktop is rather slow....I'm averaging 20MB/s (I have gigabit ethernet here) whereas between my 2 vista pc's I average 50-60MB/s.
