Default nvidia 100.14.19 1080i stretches screen

Hi,
I'm trying to output in 1080i to my Sony TV. The log shows EDID as allowing for interlaced however I had to override vert refresh as the following would happen

(II) NVIDIA(0): Validating Mode "1920x1080":
(II) NVIDIA(0): 1920 x 540 @ 60 Hz
(II) NVIDIA(0): For use as DFP backend.
(II) NVIDIA(0): Mode Source: EDID
(II) NVIDIA(0): Pixel Clock : 74.18 MHz
(II) NVIDIA(0): HRes, HSyncStart : 1920, 2008
(II) NVIDIA(0): HSyncEnd, HTotal : 2052, 2200
(II) NVIDIA(0): VRes, VSyncStart : 540, 542
(II) NVIDIA(0): VSyncEnd, VTotal : 547, 562
(II) NVIDIA(0): H/V Polarity : +/+
(II) NVIDIA(0): Extra : Interlace
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Mode is rejected: VertRefresh (120.0 Hz) out of range
(WW) NVIDIA(0): (48.000-62.000 Hz).

and the modes wouldnt be available. Overriding vertrefresh lets me choose 1920x1080_100i from the mode list but the screen is stretched to double height.
Why is this modeline converting to 100Hz and why is the screen stretched now?

I've attached the bug report log if it helps.
