Not sure what you mean by "run." If you mean physically run, then you are 99.99% correct. I think there may be a few games that require a DX8 card....could be wrong. There certainly are several games that use DX8 shader effects, and the effects will not be visible with a DX7 card like the gf256. Also, a gf256 will not run games today very acceptably whatsoever. So even if you can physically run every game, they would be slow and ugly.

thats the point he was making I think. no games "require" a DX 8.0 card and DX 9.0 will probably be very similar
