Question dual 8800gts in sli mode & nVidia 10.14.19 not working

Hi, I am new to Linux and quite a bit frustrated. After trying multiple version of Linux both live and not live versions I was finally able to get openSUSE 10.3 cleanly installed. Only problem is I cannot get the operating system to display the gui/kde desktop utilizing the latest nVidia 100.14.19 drivers.. I was able to use Yast to install them. When i start the x server i can hear it start, soundwise but only get black screen with a single underscore in the upper left corner of my monitor. I am able to ctrl-alt-del enter out but thats it. After a couple of reinstallations and learning the vi editor I was able to modify my xorg.conf file and comment out the nVidia device and edit the vesa one to get the xserver to work at 800x600 without any 3d or opengl type support. I like what I have experienced from my linux desktop but want to be able to use my graphics the way they were meant to.
I have searched the forums and found a couple of similar black screen issues but didn't see any final resolutions to the problem. I am a newbie to forum usage i might have missed something that would have helped.
openSUSE-10.3-GM-KDE-X86_64
I have an amd dual corex64 processor
I have 2 nVidia 8800GTS cards connect in sli mode.
I have a viewsonic vx922 lcd screen.
I have a saitek laser gaming mouse
I have Fatal1ty flat usb gaming keyboard.
All works great under windows.
My linux installation is on its own dedicated sata hard drive.

Any help would be appreciated. If someone has a similiar setup maybe a few important sample lines of a functioning xorg.conf might help too.
