All I REALLY see are darker shadows and if that's all it takes to get 7 extra FPS, sign me up.
Edit: He also said to add/change this in the config
change two commands:
Explanation of his tweaks
- I don't like this dark tint. Makes the water appear almost luminescent (look at the waterfall in his pic) and it's very clear that the developer didn't intent the game to be this dark. I don't like it at all
Also this doesn't have any impact on performance so I won't use it for sure..
boost extra fps for little/no image quality loss
turned down shadow setting from very high and gain extra fps
He is tuning almost all of the shadow parameters so I just prefer to set the shadows with the sys_spec_Shadows setting to set it at predefined medium or high (I'm planning on using medium for the time being).
improved distant mountain texture, but would use extra system memory, no performance hit if you have enough memory (min 2GB)
improve quality of distant trees with little/no performance hit
I like these
adjust the vegetation and particles setting to boost performance
This is BS IMO. I can compromise the quality of many things, but not the view distance of various objects and vegetation. I think it's seriously disturbing the experience when stuff is noticeably popping up as you move around. The above settings are corresponding to "low", some are even lower. No thanks
