Nope, but since this is some kind of undocumented options... so I don't even bother to worry about this...
the full list of options I use (most devices things are Gentoo...) on my inspiron 9400:

With this, I stop getting the xid errors and the black flash...
I case of interest, I attach a bug report so you can actually check to see possible config difference between your config and mine :-)
So at least it may be useful to someone...
