Background on my system:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium MoBo
* NVIDIA nForce RAID Class Controller
* Silicon Image SiI 3114 SoftRaid 5 Controller
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
2x Seagate Barracuda SATA 80g
1x Western Digital IDE 120g
2g Patriot RAM

I have a software RAID 0 (Striping) set up on my SATA drives using NVRaid. I have had XP installed here on my SATA drives for a while. I recently added the IDE drive in hopes of dual booting with Fedora 8. While trying to troubleshoot my problem I also tried Fedora 7.

Let me say here that my fedora/linux experience is rather limited, so i am kind of a newb with it.

My Problem:
Installing Fedora went without a hitch. I installed linux on the seperate partition on my IDE drive. Installation finished, then I restarted and than attempted to boot into Linux. Within a couple seconds of the OS startup, it promptly informed me that there was a "kernal panic: Attempting to kill init!" I have a friend who told me that a possible reason this was happening was that the software RAID array I am using for windows wasn't playing nice with Linux.

So my actual questions are: A) can anyone validate this?
and
B) what steps can I take to either have linux accept the software raid, or maybe have it just ignore it all together?

I have seen some other people online who have had a similar problem , however I stiill haven't yet found a spelled out solution for this.
