There is definitely some truth to this... but what tool/standard is used to convince people to tighten their standards and censor videogames. It's often religion.
In terms of nudity, the shame of adam and eve is invoked everytime that Janet's boob shows up on TV. We all have nipples, but for some reason it is a sin that she expose hers. It strikes me as very strange. Maybe the Bible isn't the main reason for this and I'm totally of base here, but I can't think of what else it would be.
