The PS3 is already $400 so it's not like they are going to raise the price on it.
Second, there is competition and it's a big one at that. DVD sales are still far higher than all HD media combined and it is much cheaper to buy a player and movies. If blu-ray is going to sell more copies they will have to lower prices.
