Re: Ubuntu 7.1 & Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 400 Driver Install Help
Please do read my posts.
Please do read the sticky posts.
If you don't want to read:
either use the packages provided by ubuntu or use envy.
Again: if you don't do so you will have problems.
You wont have X11 (graphical user interface for you) anymore,
as there will be a conflict between libs provided by ubuntu
and by nvidia. You can solve this, but it is easier to just use ubuntu packages.
I am quite sure you wont be able to fix it without help.
So please, please, do what I tell you.
If you still want to ignore this:
You can exit X11 on several ways:
but the dm (kdm, gdm) will probably restart it
2) kill X with the kill / killall command
3) stop the corresponding init script,
usually this is
/etc/init.d/kdm or /etc/init.d/gdm or /etc/init.d/xdm stop.
Do _not_ install it by hand.
Read the sticky posts FIRST.
Read the README first.
No support from me from here on if you continue anyway, good luck.
