Yeah baby! Passive cooling. After listening to the turbine engine on my BFG 7800GS AGP that this thing is replacing for a couple years, ahhhhh silence! Of course, I am replacing just about everything else except my sound card and case too. I was still using single core, socket 939, and AGP! Can't wait. I got a stack of games I put in the "can't be played until upgrade" pile. You know, all the ones you guys been yapping about for about the last year? Crisis, Timeshift, The Witcher, Lost Planet, etc.
Sig specs updated. Yeah....that's what I upgraded to, not from. Still seems like a massive upgrade to me from an Athlon 64 4000, and 1 gig of PC3200 RAM.
EDIT: A quick little fraps run, before and after:
1680x1050, Used the High preset, no vsync or mouse smoothing.
Before: FEAR v1.08 | Athlon 64 4000+ | Geforce 7800GS AGP 256 meg
- Time: 60000ms - Avg: 39.017
- Min: 2 - Max: 144
After: FEAR v1.08 | Athlon 64 X2 5400 | Geforce 9600GT PCIE-2 512 meg
- Time: 60000ms - Avg: 100.017
- Min: 68 - Max: 178
Woot? Almost triple the frame rate! It may not be "high end" but it whoops the @%#$ out of what I had!
