I can't seem to launch the DX9 version through Steam... there is no option to do so, and when I try to launch the DX9 .exe it just freezes at the "Steam is preparing..." screen.

I looked at my processes and there is an "Assassin's Creed DirectX Selector" process running, but I see no evidence of it and could not get it to appear.

EDIT: Official Steam forums report the same problems, and even those who got the DX9.exe to launch state that the game runs the DX10.exe anyway.
