Today I installed 173.08 beta drivers. Release notes mentioned explicitly this problems to be fixed.

BULL****!

Nothing changed!! Still my hardware FN control for brightness stops working as X turns on.
If I uninstall Nvidia module and use "nv" driver it works ok, but it's obviously unusable.. :/

STILL WAITING FIXES HERE..
