I have just been informed I won't have my GTX260 until Wed next week. NZ sucks for getting stuff on time. Really tempted to get a 280 as they have them in stock, but the price is just too much for me
If your interested I got my GTX260 today and I have the same processor as you - an E8400. I did a couple of before and after checks with Crysis's inbuilt benchmark - previously I had a 8800GTS 640MB model.
With the 8800GTS:
Crysis 1900X1200, High Quality no AA - 17.52 average FPS
Crysis 1680X1050, High Quality no AA - 20.97 average FPS
With the GTX260
Crysis 1900X1200, High Quality no AA - 32.4 average FPS
Crysis 1680X1050, High Quality no AA - 35.3 average FPS
(Running in Vista SP1)
So for me, in Crysis at least, the GTX260 seems to be a significant improvement. (Futuremark's 3D Mark Vantage score was doubled from 3600ish to around 7600.)
