What I'm really wondering is if you underclock the memory by say 10% does it really cut the GPU performance by 5 - 10% as well, or is it going to be a minimal difference, like 1 - 2%.
Everything I've seen seems to indicate that 280s arent bandwidth limited most of the time. I don't think GDDR5 would be useful except in a few rare cases.
