Not sure why you are so concerned about this. The 8800GTX runs almost as hot, but dumps hot air into the system with the vents on the card ahead of the back plate. So the 4870 may have higher radiant heat, but it exhausts all hot air out of the case.
Let it do its thing. If you are really worried, get a Visiontek with lifetime warranty and an extra system fan like an Antec Spot Cool to guide air through your case. That would be better noise wise and let the 4870 do its thing.
