Mmm, i'm a bit confused. Is this SLI 8x mode using 2x2 SS + 4x MS ? Cause, this is called 16xS in single card mode.
I thought that SLI 8x was 4x MS (gpu1) + 4x MS (gpu2) + blend of the resulting images = 8x MS

The main advantage of the SLI AA modes, is the lack of micro stuttering. You do not raise your frame rate, but you raise the AA quality.
All SLIAA modes have a 1x2 SS component caused by the merging of the two AA data outputs, 64xS is hybrid mode that works a bit differently. The SS component of SLIAA is slightly rotated but it doesnt sample much of the pixel.
