I've found something, it's explained there:

basically, on my archlinux, if I start a vesa drivers, kill X, and start the nvidia driver, it's working.

if you make a script like this one, it will start the vesa version, and twm, then exit twm yourself and it will automatically copy the nvidia version of xorg.conf, and start kdm or whatever you prefer:

cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.vesa /etc/X11/xorg.conf
xinit /usr/bin/twm &&
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.nvidia /etc/X11/xorg.conf
kdm
it's an ugly workaround, but it's working for me at least!
