Default sez "The driver supports full 2D acceleration ...". For basic Xwindows use (i.e. no texture, no 3D, no animation) I assume the nv driver will perform as good as nvidia driver.

Since I don't do gaming or 3D-based simulation, the nv driver could be sufficient for my needs.

However, I would like to figure out why the nvidia driver doesn't work on my machine. I would also like to have convenient control of the tvout capability; I don't know if I need the nvidia driver to have good control over twinhead & vga+tv output switching.
