I've played around a lot with configs in the original Crysis and I must say that they improved lightning a lot in a lot of levels, which was the greatest reason to custom Crysis together with things like DX10'ish water effects etc.

Warhead has improved quality/performance ratio and I think it looks just right on the developers own settings, it looks really natural. Many config tends to overexaggerate different effects, contrasts, shadows, color, sharpness etc., I actually think most of it looks worse unless you want to play a cartoon or funky lightning game. Just play in a combination of gamer and enthusiast that you can accept, though you are probably pushing your system really hard with 1920*1200. Several people have been promoting the CCC config file as being performance saving in Warhead even though it's designed for Crysis in combinations with TOD settings not available for warhead. If you think it plays horrible, you should check that out. Otherwise just stick with the game unmodded, they really improved it over Crysis IMO
