If Nvidia's next batch of cards are DX11 compliant, then that's fine. My worry is that some of the rumors we've heard lately (that they won't be) are true and we'll be left out in the cold on an improved API until late 2009/2010.

nvidia was first to market with DX10 technology despite Eric Demners Beyond3D rant that "unified shader R600 would wipe the floor with nvidia", therefore nvidia's Dx10 implimentation became the base DX10 standard that developers write for (to maximize sales).
Do you have a link for this? I've followed Eric's posting for a while and never seen him make such brash statements.
