Heck, I wouldn't call any motherboard over $150 mainstream ($100 is probably more accurate). Unless you are planning on going multi-GPU there isn't any reason to have a board that costs more than $150. And if you're going multi-GPU you aren't shopping in the main stream segment.

I've always had rigs that were damned near top of the line with a single GPU and the most I've ever spent on a board was $120 for my DFI Lanpart Nforce 4 Ultra. My current board was right around $100 if I remember correctly.
