I just got this from the NVIDIA docs...

If no matching precompiled kernel interface is found, then the installer
will compile the kernel interface for you. However, first it will
check that you have the correct kernel headers intalled on your system.
If the installer must compile the kernel interface, then you must install
the kernel-sources package for your kernel.

I obviously don't have the kernel source because this is the error the nvidia installer is giving me... firstly, what exactly is a kernel and where can i go to find out what kernel i need to compile or install or whatever.... this is getting confusing... I am starting to miss the windows double-click
