Planned features for XBMC 9.04


* Reworked thumbnail caching system.
* Music FanArt.
* Shift-key navigation in lists. (Jump to starting letter).
* PulseAudio support, at least for XBMC Linux and XBMC Live.
* Export entire video library into separate files (with images).
* Karaoke functionality on SDL port.
* Updated FFmpeg.
* Updated TiMidity.
* Additional music and movie scrapers.
* FanArt Screensaver.
* Support for movie.nfo (if there is a movie.nfo in the folder we will always use that).
* Mixed(XML and URL) nfo files.
* Flipping of FanArt.
* 24FPS 1080p playback (1920x1080@24Hz) and 25FPS 1080p playback 1920x1080@50Hz

Priority 1:
1. Ubuntu Hardy, Intrepid, and Jaunty 32-bit Linux. Distributed using PPA.
2. Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) for Intel-x86.
3. Windows XP 32-bit, and Windows Vista 32-bit.
4. Xbox.


Priority 2:
1. Ubuntu Hardy, Intrepid, and Jaunty 64-bit Linux. Distributed using PPA.
2. Create an xbmc-dev apt meta-package for Linux. See trac ticket #4808.



Alpha 1
Estimated release date: TBD
Contents:
1. Codename for the upcoming release set by Team-XBMC, (the codename will be something referencing a movie or TV-show and starts with the letter 'B').
2. Specifications must already be finalized.
3. Passes basic sanity/regression tests - to be defined by pike.


Alpha 2
Estimated release date: TBD
Contents:
1. All merges from upstream libraries completed.
2. Passes basic sanity - to be defined by pike.


Christmas Break
Alpha 3

Contents:
1. All merges from upstream libraries completed, and rebuild tested.

Developer Sprint
Alpha 4

25th February of 2009: General Feature Freeze, meaning no adding new features or functions, nor API changes.
Alpha 6
Estimated release date: TBD
Contents:
1. All build issues fixed on all platforms.
2. New last-minute features/functions if decided by the developers (only very important stuff).
3. Passes basic sanity and audio/video playback regression tests - to be defined by pike.
4. No more API changes (Python / HTTP API / EventServer )
5. Passes basic sanity - to be defined by pike.
Note! Further Alpha releases will be released if needed with maximum of 2-weeks apart if not all priority 1 and 2 bugs been fixed.


7th March of 2009 : User Interface Freeze. Assign defects to milestone to developers and unassigned new features or change to next version.

Beta 1
Estimated release date: TBD
Contents:
1. All Priority 1 Priority 2 bugs/issues fixed.
2. No new features or functions
3. No skin-engine changes that could affect skin compability
4. No new third-party functions added to SVN or modified in SVN
5. No build changes
6. English language file frozen (no language string changes). pike will ask all translators to translate this file.
7. Passes sanity tests - to be defined by pike.
Once all above steps are done, we branch the SVN if we feel that it is good enough.


20th of March 2009: Request further help with translations and documentation (XBMC Online Manual, FAQ, wiki, etc.).

Release Candidate 1
Estimated release date: TBD
Contents:
1. Only bug fixes if needed before release Release Candidate 2 or Gold (Final) depending on the bug reports / stability.
Note! Further Release Candidates will be released if needed with maximum of 2-weeks apart if critical show stopper bugs are found.


10th of April 2009: Rebuild Test.

20th of April 2009: Language Pack Translation Deadline.

Gold (Final) Release
Estimated release date: TBD
Contents:
1. We will try to release the 'Gold' (Final) release earlier in April but it depends how many release candidates are needed.
