GeForce 8100 in spasm mode
I tried OpenSuse 11.0 32 + 64 and now Ubuntu AM64 8.10 with a GF8100VM-M3 MB, 2Mb RAM. That MB uses GeForce 8100 video.
After initial Ubuntu installation the system runs OK, but very slow. When I change to Nvidia driver 173 or 177 (or 180.18) the screen get's into a spasm mode and nothing really works. It is very bad the the normal Ubuntu "goat" background - and slightly better when I change the background to monochrome.
I use 1280x1024 resolution.
Is there a way to fix it? Or is that any other Linux distribution that is more friendly to that hardware?
