I am quite sure that he is unable to boot the system while the nvidia driver is set in the Xorg.conf, as the X server causes his system to hang and is started automatically.

He could

1) As already said, use the grub built in editor to boot the system into a non-X runlevel

1b) when the distribution allows it, switch to interactive boot mode and don't start the X / *dm service


2) chroot into the installation from any live media and run the linux bug report script from there


3) collect the data manually, most of all the log files of X and system, from a live system.

I'd prefer 1), then 2), and 3) as the ugliest solution.
