It sounds like notebook customizations are now managed by Nvidia...
Does this mean that the Nvidia binary driver supports SmartDimmer? If so, how can we configure it using the Nvidia driver tools?
I know nvclock has a smartdimmer module, but it doesn't support SmartDimmer auto-light sensors.
Any info would be great, as I'm trying to get the light sensor on several HP 8510w systems and haven't had much luck....
The strange part, I seem to recall this working when using the NV driver, but with Nvidia, I can't even use my FN-keys to adjust brightness, need to use nvclock w/ smartdimmer utility to accomplish this.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
“NVIDIA is committed to giving the rapidly growing number of customers using notebook GPUs the same performance optimizations and innovative graphics features that desktop customers have grown accustomed to,” said Dwight Diercks, vice president of software engineering at NVIDIA. “To accomplish this, we have worked diligently over the past year to modularize our driver architecture and develop a unified driver install package that will not only work with notebooks from all manufacturers but also maintain all of their specific model customizations such as hotkeys and suspend and resume functionality.”
