But if a 610W did, or seemed to work, you have to ask what are the ramifications. Nvidia suggests 680W for 295s and if you use a lower wattage then how well the video card performs let alone the life of the card are both in Jeopardy- maybe your warranty too.
But the owner is the one that should care if the life of a card is shortened and not the manufacturer. If my 8800GTX had lasted maybe 6 months longer I bet BFG would have ran out of replacements for it and given me a 260. It happened to someone else on NVNews Forums with a different company I think. I had an original BFG 8800GTX go out, but I did get an 8800Ultra for a replacement.
