If the answer is no. You'll be sorry!
Why?
Because if I set "Multi-GPU performance mode" to "Single GPU" on my GTX295, I bet even an OCed GTX285 is hardly distinguishably from my performance except @ 2560x1600 because of the vRAM. (You don't have a 30' monitor do you?) But when I change back "Multi-GPU performance mode" to "normal" or "NVIDIA recamended" my GTX295 is as indistinguishable as Night and Day from a GTX285 OCed! (Or Smoking is to a dowsed flame. )
See, that's what the extra £80 would get you.
Another way to look at it is, just get another GTX285 OCed and you'll be hardly distinguishably from my performance except @ 2560x1600 because of the vRAM. But at least you will have the performance too. (Compared to one GTX285 which sucks in comparison to a GTX295.)
And 2xGTX285 has a few more perks. One card goes down and ur cool for example. But I hear that 2xGTX295 is the best bang for ur money!

Hmmm Quad SLI, value? Same sentence?
I might see what you mean though - for 30-inch monitors - possibly.
